Acrobat Alternative - I've decided to go with Nitro Pro @ $159

    Hi Folks,
Sharing my 2 Cents: I've decided to go with Nitro Pro @ $159; worth a look see if anyone is wants to buy other than / cheaper than Acrobat.
It GUI is much like the ribbon style of Office products and many features are easier to use than Acrobat.
Thanks again to all who offered suggestions!

Acrobat X Pro still works fine on my W 10 Pro 64 bits v20H2.
But I had to install it in compatibility mode.

    +1 for Wondershare PDF Element.

Would have loved to use LibreOffice but it's brain-dead when it comes to opening PDFs generated in other apps; it completely munges the fonts regardless of whether you embed them in the PDF or provide perfect font-substitution choices. *sigh*

    Hi there

    @jdUnionngarden

I often recommend this to people who want to continue to use legacy software (and / or hardware too).

why not run a "Virtual Machine" with the last working version of the product - then you can run it for as long as you want and it won't stop working because of updates to the OS ( you don't need to update the OS (The Virtual Machine OS here - not the main HOST OS !!) if just using it for those apps). Modern hardware makes the overhead of using Virtual Machines -- especially small ones almost zero these days.

Unless you need / use features that currently aren't available in the new release then to me this seems sensible.

I'm still running old recording software on an XP Virtual Machine -- recording music on Minidiscs hasn't been supported since XP days -- I like the sound quality of Minidiscs especially when played with Pro gear through Studio refrence quality speakers !!!.

Virtual Machine : XP recording a CD to a MD -- ripped the CD to a Nero .NRG disc to get the tagging info , then mounted with Alcohol 52% (a "Virtual CD / DVD mounter" -- Windows didn't have Virtual CD/DVD mounting until Win 8) then used MD simple burner to copy to MD.

The MD program retrieves the tagging data from the Gracenote CDDB music database -- (built in to the program -- it's much better for Classical Music tagging than things like FREEDB).

You can use (Free VM software such as from VMWare / Vbox or if you have W10 Pro HYPER-V).

I also use Photoshop CS6 on a W7 Virtual Machine -- I'm also not getting into "Software subscriptions" either.

Plenty of help available here if you want to set up a VM.

    Cheers
