how to run a program in background, hidden

    Hi all,
I have an issue struggling me on my laptop.
It seems I can't disable sleep/hibernation in any way. No chances, tried lots of things.
Now I would like to try launching a small something, hidden (not to disturb or bother everything I'm doing), in background.
Someone told me it should work.
I would like to schedule this run as well (my idea is to have it always running to prevent the sleeping)

Do you know I have to do to launch in background, hidden, a small program?

a neverending ping could be enough?

    thanks!

    Hi,
    a. to disable hibernation:
    To Disable Hibernation

    1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box. (Don’t use run since it won’t allow you to run as an administrator.
    2. In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt or CMD, and then click Run as Administrator.
    3. When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
    4. At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate off, and then press Enter.
    5. Type exit, and then press Enter to close the Command Prompt window.
If you enable viewing hidden files you can confirm whether hiberfil.sys exists. It shouldn't now. If it doesn't, your PC can't hibernate.

You can view if the Hiberfil.sys file is present by going to.

    1. Open my computer and go to local disk (c:)
    2. On the top left corner, click on organize, and select ‘folder and search options’
    3. Go to the view tab
    4. From the advanced options, go to hidden files and folders and select ‘Show Hidden files folders and files’
    5. Also uncheck the ‘Hide protected operating system files’
    6. Click apply then OK
    b. I use a tiny freeware program

    Don'tSleep
    Download Don't Sleep - MajorGeeks

if I wish to prevent sleep.

It has a number of other handy functions too. Updated not long ago.

Hopefully one of these startup options will suit you:
