    Problems installing and uninstalling Applications

I started by having problems installing certain applications in this case 2 games.. checked online some talked about uninstalling all the Microsoft Visual C++ and re download it from Microsoft to possible fix that issue but then another one came out, I couldn't Uninstall any Microsoft Visual C++.

Tried from add remove programs no luck, Revo no luck either, both get stuck.

In add remove programs show's a window named Windows Installer saying Preparing to remove... and its forever.

tried sfc /scannow all came out ok.
    tried Msiexec also no errors.
    tried MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab gets stuck

Scanned with Kaspersky or Malwarebytes no virus

Anyone been in a similar situation? I don't know what else to do.

Hi, suggest you do a couple more basic checks first:

    a. check your disk e.g. Crystal Diskinfo (free)
    b. run
    chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt

If those are ok, then assuming what you mean by
add remove programs no luck, Revo no luck either, both get stuck.
is actually that running the program's own installer- which Revo runs first- fails in both cases

and that you only have the free version of Revo

then you can used 'Forced uninstall' approache using a 3rd party program (which Revo can do, Pro) e.g. using Wise uninstaller, which does offer this in its free version.

Thus you launch Wise Uninstaller, start Custom Uninstall (rt most button) browse to part of the program you wish to uninstall e.g. the main exe file and proceed.

Note that sometimes it's necessary to trace other relics of a partly uninstalled program and repeat this.

Note too that Revo Pro e.g. provides a monitoring feature when installing programs, which can be used to uninstall them based on the log created.

    However, this
    I couldn't Uninstall any Microsoft Visual C++
suggests you may have more basic problems e.g. service not running, or other corruption.

I note you ignored this forum prompt:

thank you, not totally my windows version is 20h2 19042.685

did the scan only got "The type of the file system is NTFS"

if i had something corrupt wouldn't "sfc /scannow" tell me? because all came out ok.

to force uninstall i need a path i dont know were visual c++ is installed.

No. This only verifies your system files- just part of what's on your disk.

    It says nothing about
    - other files on your PC
    - partitions other than C:
    - unused space
    - weak or reallocated sectors
    etc.

The two other checks do something quite different

As I see no clear outcomes, please post screenshots of
    a. Crystal Disinfo or similar (SMART parameters) - Hard Disk Sentinel (trial/free features) is excellent
    b. chkdsk being run as above.

    Thanks.

I am sorry for the delay dalchina and thank you for helping,
the disk is new just installed windows very recently i think i might have messed something with the reg by trying to clean it, that or maybe some application/virus that could be doing this, used Kaspersky and malwarebytes and no virus found.

I was thinking that the sfc could check for anything wrong within the windows system my bad.

windows troubleshoot doesn't work neither scanDisk they all get stuck at the start, i see i might have to reinstall it again but i was trying to avoid that and learn what is wrong in here, otherwise i might end up in the same situation in the new installation.

    Oh boy!

Im going to reinstall it probably faster that way in a few hours i'm set still i hate it with so many apps to install and configs, i will keep checking if everything keeps working if i find why it happened i will reply.

Thank you for your attention dalchina.

Thanks, as your disk is good, you might try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data and most settings - same as any upgrade.

However this will not repair problems which are profile specific.

i think i might have messed something with the reg by trying to clean it,
Registry cleaners are NOT recommended here- no one's ever found any performance benefit by dong so that I know of.

Di your cleaner create a backup you can use, or do you have a suitable System Restore point?

As you have 20H2 you can use the MS media creation tool to download an iso file.

Check you have at least 30Gb free on C:
rt click iso file, click Mount
open the new drive letter created
    double click setup.exe

Recommended: create a current dsk image of all the O/S partitions before starting. E,g, Macrum Reflect (free) - so very often recommended to be used routinely and regularly to give you a 2nd chance in many cases when things go badly wrong, and possibly avoiding the need for a clean install if you've been using it, depending on when the problem occured.

    --------------------------------
Should you decide on a clean install, then as early as possible in configuring your system start using disk imaging regularly (Macrium Reflect- free + large enough external disk).

    Here's what I do:
    a. Install Windows, install Macrium R as early as I can. Create my 1st (base) disk image of all Windows' partitions (4 for UEFI) + a backup job
    b. Make notes on changes
    c. Create a differential image (smaller, faster, representing the changes from the base image

    Repeat b,c

Should something go wrong, I can restore a disk image.

After an upgrade or in-place upgrade repair install, start from (a) again.

The very act of disk imaging also checks the integrity of all of the files on the partitions imaged.
