Not really a Windows post but nearly everybody has a mobile who uses this forum so I'm asking the question here:
One can easily block numbers and text messages from those numbers from mobiles but I haven't seen any way to block those numbers from still leaving voice mail messages.
Anybody got suggestions on how to do this -- apart from changing phone number which is a nuisance.

Unless anything has changed in the past year, or so, you will need to use something like Tasker to automatically pick up and hang up on the call. Few years ago Google removed 3rd party access to the APIs for the dialer responsible for that kind of control.
Took a bit to learn, but was worth it. I now use Tasker for much more than just that.
Did take a while to tweak the profile for hang ups and a lot of re-working/re-ordering it to maximize the efficiency but it works for me perfectly now.
I can give you an example of my profile/tasks if you need. Profiles and tasks are usually pretty specific to phone mfgr and OS version due to differences in terminology/location of settings. But you'll be able to see the basic programming/flow of things to adapt it to your specific phone/OS version.

This is super easy if you have T-Mobile as your Cell Service provider..
Goto Phone dialer then enter **67*15555555555# then press receiver icon to have it setup and when it's done you won't get anymore voicemails from blocked calls.
This works because **67* is a ussd code that tells your TMobile service provider server to change call forwarding when busy or busy in your account to replace the voicemail number with 15555555555 which is a non voicemail number..
Call blocking on Android doesn't actually block the number it just sends the number on the internal reject list or a blacklist of a 3rd party blocker app to tmobiles voicemail which was changed to 15555555555 when you used **67* command.
I called AT&T and asked and they told me they don't offer call forwarding number change to avoid voice calls from blocked calls I am afraid to say.
The settings you need to block voicemails are not in the Settings app with the cog icon but instead in the Phone app with the phone icon. Confusing huh?

However the settings available for modification for your voicemail, is dependent on your mobile network.
As britain had a phone hacking scandal where newspapers would hack the voicemail of the rich, famous and powerful, in order to get exclusive stories to sell more papers, which lead to the Leveson Inquiry and other press regulations, the voicemail settings feature on android phones (and iphones) has been disabled (for british citizens) to be visually greyed out (on Android 7) or non-existent (on Android 8). A british person would have to use their mobile network's phone number to change their voicemail settings.
The screenshots might vary on your phone as Samsung phones uses the Samsung TouchWiz shell (like how HTC has HTC Sense).
For reproduction's sake, I'm using Samsung Galaxy S6 with Android 7 and a Samsung Galaxy S7 with Android 8.
