    Thank you both - both methods worked.

    However, I was expecting to see something different in this folder.

    I get a .lnk for Paint - how do I view/edit this?

    At first I got an 'Open With Powershell Window' opton as shown here and had to edit the registry to get the 'Open with Command' option back.

    ...Or we could have just viewed the directory listing in PowerShell. But that would have been too easy...

    .lnk's are Links or Shortcuts to Programs. This is a standard Link to Paint. Why do you want to Edit it?
    If you must then;
    Open "Registry Editor" by typing "regedit" in the taskbar search box and selecting the program.
    1. Navigate to the Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile location in the program.
    2. Create a backup of the key by right-clicking "lnkfile" and selecting Export (you can use this to restore your key in case of an error).
    3. Select the "NeverShowExt" property and delete it.
    4. Restart Windows.

    Art,

    I was not suggesting using the Command prompt for the job you want to do.

    Use File explorer then you'll be able to access the properties of that shortcut. I suggest copying it to your Desktop to do any alterations then copying it back afterwards [for which you'll be challenged to give Admin permission to proceed].
