IBM Lotus Organizer stopped working in Windows 10

I have used Lotus Organizer since my very first computer in 1993. I have the last version 6.1. When I got my newest laptop I installed Organizer and it has worked just fine. But it seemed to jiggle or shake a bit occasionally so tonight I did a re-install. Now it will not start. I am getting the error message attached. I do not see the actual temp file referenced in the attachment.

Also each time I have reinstalled tonight, at the end of the installation I get a message saying that it cannot determine my default browser. What does it have to do with any browser? I use Chrome but have Firefox and Edge on the computer as well but I am quite sure it doesn't use a browser.

I know that this old program works with windows 10 because I have been using it for months. Also because I was wondering if an update disabled it I just went and installed it on my Windows 10 desktop which is also updated to the same version of Windows 10. It works perfectly.

Just imagine, I Have a 27-year diary of what I have done every day in this program. I simply must figure this out.
Thanks so much in advance. I'm sure someone much smarter than me can tell me what to do.

    Windows Version20H2 (OS Build 19042.685)

OK, I finally fixed it myself. It took some time but I picked through the registry and deleted every reference to Organizer 6 except for a few that it would not let me delete. I then was able to do a re-install. However, I still got the weird message about a browser (attached) and BIOS

I had tried what you suggested choosing both Windows 7 and XP but nether one worked.

The browser message seems to be because Organiser wants to register its installation with IBM - I doubt it matters!

Now you have access to your data it may be worth exporting a copy of it that can be opened using current software - so at least if you continue using Organizer and a similar problem occurs in the future the data is not lost.

Yes that makes total sense. I did think of that but it never happened before in all these years. Perhaps in previosu years it did register. But then it didn't do it on my other computer this week. Crazy. Happy New Year mngerhold.

Thanks rqt. That's a great idea. I just cannnot think of another program other than something I don't want to use such as Outlook. If you have anything in mind please let me know. Lotus Organizer has been beloved by many people I think for many years. It's too bad they ended it. I once read where some organization in the UK named it the best Daytimer of all time. But you are right. I can't get away with this forever. I was using a hack to keep Windows Vista Mail working with Windows 7 all these years but if you can get it to work with Windows 10, the next update will knock it out again. So I have switched to Thunderbird which to me is junk.

This will give you a 100% perfect Lotus Organizer installation:
Use a virtual Machine like vmware. Then set up a win7 computer on this virtual machine, and install Lotus.

I don't think I ever made it clear that this was a fantastic fix and I must thank you for it.
