    Store apps not updating automatically

    Hello all,

I know there are a few threads on this forum on this very subject. However, my case seems to be different. In my case, I do not see errors, just that updates are available but they do not start automatically. If I hit "update all", everything works as it should. But if I don't do that, those apps will never update automatically.

I have tried what is recommended on this and other forums: I reset the Store, reinstalled it. Nothing worked. This is Windows 10 20H2. It's an installation I use for my HTPC so I really haven't got much installed besides those 2-3 things I use for my media.

Any ideas? I manually updated everything yesterday, as soon as I see more apps showing on the update list, I'll take a screenshot and publish it here.

    Thank you!

I know you say you have tried what is recommended, but of course I do not know which aspect you have tried

you will note that my screenshot from store, settings etc deals only with your account, so if there are other users you either need to use GP if available or set on their account as well

    Hi thanks for your reply

Yes, the "update apps automatically" is set to ON. The other day I tried toggling it OFF and ON again to see if that makes a difference.

I followed a few guides. I think this one was one of them. Microsoft Store apps not updating automatically in Windows 10

Do you use a third party anti virus by any chance OR are you using the Windows Security Centre - Defender

I'm using Windows Defender and I never had anything else.

I really have a few applications on that computer. A couple of media players (MPC-HC and VLC), video drivers, Adobe Audition, DisplayCAL... Maybe a couple of games and some benchmark tools.

There used to be a scheduled task to update store apps, but it is gone in 20H2.
I wonder whether it is another bug or MS has decided to update only used apps.

interesting. I think I had this problem before 20H2. Maybe I should try reinstalling the Store app now that I am on 20H2...

YES as I understand it, the store does indeed only update used apps and only apps from the store, as against apps that are NOT from the store

    An often missed feature is

ok, interesting. I will do a test with an app I don't normally use then.

I did notice that Spotify did not update - but maybe it would have been shortly after using it? I don't use Spotify every day on that computer.

Ok, I let some time pass and I think my Store is still not updating anything. Below is the screen I get, there is no past activity as I can see on my other computers.
For example, Drawboard PDF is marked as "to be updated". I have opened it and played with it a bit (to try and trigger an update) but on another computer I have it's running a later version than the one running on this system. Same for skype.

    Any ideas?
