    Old Quicken can't register

I have Quicken 2006 and continue to use it because the newer versions just don't work well for me (I've tried). It's easy to install, but of course, I can't register the program with Intuit because it's so old.

How do I change the Registry so Quicken doesn't keep asking me to register? I have a new computer and can't remember howI did it before. I have gone to Registry and believe it should be here, but not sure what to put.
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RegisteredApplications
I think I need to add a new string value, but I'm not sure what it should say.

Is Quicken installed and working? I have an old program that gives choices of Never or Later but still works for my needs.

Note the old versions of Microsoft Money you can download for free still work fine in Windows 10.

An issue with the Quicken I have is they are Starter, can't import from file but have to start over.

Talking programs, Microsoft Money Sunset is a good choice for a replacement and if having a spreadsheet program like Excel can usually find a check register template on Office Templates.

Yes, it's installed and working, and unfortunately this version (Quicken 2006 Basic) doesn't give me any option except for "Later".

Thanks for the suggestions about MS Money. I've tried it before and did not like it. I've been using Quicken for 25 years or more. All my previous years are available to me and I like the layout.

I also liked the older versions, things started changing when they came up with the Home and Business version, got to looking like a cheaper version of QuickBooks [which I had to use for 5 years as church treasurer].

If you decide you want to buy Quicken try out Moneydance first. I gave up on Quicken years ago. Another plus for Moneydance is that you don't have to renew every year. Moneydance - Personal Finance Manager for Mac, Windows, and Linux | Infinite Kind

I would LOVE, LOVE, love to replace Quicken. I also want to keep my finances on my desktop. So far I haven't found one alternative that support all the features I use in Quicken, including check printing. Moneydance doesn't have that feature, and that's a deal-breaker for me. YMMV.

I have been using Moneydance since the early 2000's on my Apple iMac and just recently installed it on my Dell Windows 10 laptop for that "just in case" issue. If my iMac ever dies I can carry on until its back up and running by using the laptop. And I can tell you that check printing is included in both the OSX and Windows versions. Another plus is that all my information is kept current on both platforms as Moneydance does its own syncing via Dropbox (all encrypted). I print a check or pay a few bills on the iMac and the next time I boot the laptop everything is updated. Great program, and one license is valid for both platforms.
