Seeking a FREEWARE PDF editor, NOT ONLINE

I'm looking for a freeware (as opposed to "free DOWNLOAD") PDF editor which works OFFLINE. I have a scanned PDF of a work time sheet I need to fill out every 2 weeks. Basically just need to fill in blank boxes (dates, times etc.) save as a PDF & submit. I've got the scanned doc PDF, just need a way to edit it. There seem to be no decent FREEWARE PDF editors which do not work online. Not comfortable with this personal data being online. Anyone know of such a program? TIA!

I've found inexpensive installable PDF programs [cheaper than Adobe Acrobat by a bunch], some less than $80USD but no installable free programs. The installable free PDF Readers can't do much, never were intended to.

Libre Office will edit PDF's offline, for free. Only drawback is you have to install the whole Libre Office...

LibreOffice Draw is LibreOffice's flowchart and diagram program, but it also lets you open and edit PDFs. Use the File > Open menu to select the PDF you want to edit, and then zoom up to the text to select and change whatever you want.

One of the neat things about editing PDFs with LibreOffice Draw is that the program is made for creating and manipulating objects, so you can just as easily edit non-text things, too, like images, headings, colors, etc.

When you're ready to save, don't use the typical save option; go instead to File > Export As to find the PDF option.

LibreOffice runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft

On a side note, LibreOffice does just about everything Microsoft Office does as well.

You can get the non-subscription based version of Adobe Acrobat 2017 (I have it) and it's full featured.

Tip: If you're a college student with a .edu email address you could find it for a discount. I got the full version for $119. Be aware Adobe (and others) reserves the right to require more than an email address as proof of eligibility.

Acrobat 9 would also work under Windows 10 if you can find it. It's what I was using before upgrading to 2017.

    Good luck.

Have a look at the Foxit range, not sure what's free.

    Also, agree with LibreOffice suggestions

    EDIT : Also PDF-XChange from Download PDF-XChange Standard 8.0.343.0
WARNING : Use the above link. The original PDF-XChange has now been discontinued by the owners and substituted by PDF-XChange Editor from their web site, which is now one of those "Free Download" traps you speak of above. When using this new "Editor" version, the results can contain watermarks. The softpedia version linked above is the original, pre-"Editor" version.

    Hi there

    @DanzPC

This is pretty flexible -- might be able to do what you want - I've used it on tablets -- it also works on Windows.

LiquidText - "PDF Editor with Superpowers" FastCompany

As an aside - if you've got the scanned doc - can't you simply just PRINT it - fill in the hours manually with an old fashioned Ball point pen (yes they actually still exist these days), re-scan doc as pdf and email back to agency / client.

Of course that option depends how the workplace uses the PDF form -- if the hours are manually extracted via HR etc then OK but if the hours are extracted directly by the form then that's another issue -- in that case I'm surprised the agency / client didn't supply you with a dedicated "time sheet" application to do this.

I've had clients in the past that have used peoplesoft HR stuff for Hours entering and approvals for this stuff. There's all sorts of other things out there as well. Ask the client / agency -- if they have one it's good for your own records as well --Unless you are working in Monaco, Lichtenstein , Cayman Islands etc - eventually you'll have to sort out your Taxes. !!

As another get around - I believe Ms Word (or most of its clones) can convert a pdf doc to WORD, so do that, edit the doc and then print it via Windows to a PDF file -- then send back to agency / client.

You don't need any physical printer to do this - ensure the "Print to File" is enabled in Windows.

Read the 2nd section of this link -- not the ADOBE acrobat bit which is the ist section.

How to Convert a PDF to a Microsoft Word Document

It's not worth paying a load of USD / EUR etc for just wanting pdf editing for entering hours and dates on a time sheet. !!!!

    Cheers

I use Foxit Reader (free) and if you open your PDF in that, save it with a new name (eg:Timesheet_Dec_2020) then use Foxit Reader's tools to insert text/numbers anywhere as boxes (forget the exact tool and I'm writing this on my phone, but it's reasonably intuitive). You can move these boxes subsequently to adjust alignment. Save when finished.

    Hello @DanzPC,

If you would like more information on Foxit Reader, have a look at the User Manual [ PDF ] here . . .

    I hope this helps.

PDF-XChange Editor. Free. Works offline. Yes, some parts are not free. I've used this program for years and rarely find a need for the paid-for parts. I use it to annotate books I'm reading. It's amazing what they give you for free. The only thing I wanted to do that couldn't be done without payment was to digitally sign a document. Good support in the free tier, too.
