Looking for a good free Multimedia Player
I currently have 4 And use 4 MM Players. MPC-HC-64bit, Videolan (VLC) Player, Zoom player, and
Windows Media Player 12. MPC-HC was my default mm player. It had a slew of internal codecs, fairly easy to operate, easy to skip through frames, a lot of customization, Videos load for the most part quickly and at one time it would remember the last position played. MPC-HC is no longer being updated and even though I have checked the box to remember the last file position that function does not work anymore.
Why I have multiple mm players? Some video formats MPC-HC doesn't like. Usually the audio plays but no video. I am convinced that 4K media was never intended for laptop computers unless you have a high dollar laptop with a dedicated high-end graphics card or place to install after-market ones.
Which brings us to VLC and Zoom. Zoom has a 'free' version but they nag constantly about upgrading. But I haven't found many formats it will not play. That leaves VLC player. The interface for VLC is not as intuitive as it was for MPC-HC.It can be set up to remember it's last played position. My biggest complaint is that it can take a century to start playing a video. I went to their forum page and did some tweaking and it helped with loading videos faster but here lately the video's are lagging once again.
Windows Media Player 12 can only play windows video and audio formats. Enough said.
I have used Gom player. Their Interface is chunky and they nag. So that leaves BS Player, Winamp, and KM Player. What is some feedback on these players?
