I was having a problem opening an Excel file in Onedrive. I've figured out what I was doing wrong, but in the process I added "EXCEL.EXE" to the Application choice list. The correct option is "Office 2013". I want to clean this up and remove the "EXCEL.EXE" option. I can't find anyway to remove it. I suspect it's in the registry somewhere. How do I get rid of it?
You don't need to worry about removing "EXCEL.EXE". Just check the box as shown below so it will always remember to open the file with Office 2013 every time you click it.
I know I don't need to remove it, but I'm very anal retentive and it bugs the hell out me that it is thereI want it gone!
QUIT LOOKING!, I found it!
I checked the "Remember my choice..." box, and got a message that my choice could be changed in "Firefox Preferences". Ah ha! I went to the tools/options applications area, could see, but not change it. Researched it and found it was in mime.rdf, only that file didn't exist. More research... the files is now called handlers.json. Made a backup copy and opened the original with Notebook. Looked if over and took a chance on removing what I thought was the correct code (what could go wrong?). Opened tools/options... again, and Excel.exe was gone. Opened Onedrive, right clicked on an .xls file, clicked on Open in Excel, and Snoopy Happy Dance time!
