    Tekkie Boy,

I a not sure whether wcp.dll file is corrupted in SSU because I have been getting updates for MS Office and Windows 10 without issues.
Patches for MS Office got installed but for Windows 10 the Windows Update Standalone Installer states the update(s) is not applicable to my PC even when I manually grabed KBxxxxxx.msu file trying after a download to install it.

So far, 1) I have tried to do an inplace repair using a downloaded 19041.329 ISO file - it failed to reinstall Windows 10,
    2) using "DISM --RestoreHealth" did not reveal any corruptions of system files either and
    3) tried to force/reinstall KB4557957-X86.msu that actually was used to upgrade previous OS 1903/1909 to 19041.329
it failed stating not applicable to your computer !

    Do the following -

    Windows key + R

    Enter msinfo32.exe

When the window displays, click on File > Save

Name it "MyInfo" and save it to your Desktop. It will automatically get the file extension .NFO

Zip that file and post it as an attachment.

    So here's what I would try -

    1. Disable Norton 360

    2. Disable CCleaner Smart Cleaning, Dell Display Manager, and Acronis from auto starting.

    3. Remove any external drives and SD cards.

    4. Reboot to make sure everything has been disabled.

    5. Right-click on the 32-bit ISO you got from Heidoc and select Mount.

    6. Double-click on setup.exe in the root folder of the mounted ISO.

There is a step at the beginning of the install process where you can tell the installer not to download updates at this time.

Select that (click the following attachments to see the screenshots) -

    Attachment 304727

    Attachment 304728

If the in-place upgrade fails again, download and run SetupDiag -

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...rade/setupdiag

    Post the results.

    Hi,
    I followed your instructions:
I disabled only Norton 360 because I found in 'Startup Apps' the remaining mentioned apps were disabled from starting up
    when PC gets rebooted.
I started in-place upgrade again. When I changed that Windows Updates are not required for download now , I got a message 'This PC can't be updated to Windows 10. Your PC requires the latest update setup, be sure to choose "Get Updates".
So, I enabled to get updates. After about 45 minutes of installation process I received a message - Windows 10 installation has failed.
Microsoft SetupDiag App was installed previously on my PC but when I click on SetupDiag.exe it creates an empty SetupDiag.log file. I read somewhere that in Windows 10 ver.2004 SetupDiag is not needed and from
$Windows.~setuperr.logsetupact.zipBT\Sources\Panther can be found files Setuperr.log and Setupact.log showing all steps of installation with errors, if any. So, I am sending you these files.

    Thanks for the information.
    Please do that:
Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool from there on your desktop:
    Just a moment...

Then start the tool and type wcp.dll in the search box and press on “Search files”.
When Farbar is done with the search, it creates the Search.txt on the desktop. Press ok to confirm.
    Keep Farbar open.

After that press the Windows Button, type cmd and select the option “Run as administrator”.
In the command prompt window copy and paste the following command and press enter.
    Code:
    reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
Then go back to Farbar and press the Button “Search Registry” to start the search for wcp.dll in the registry.
When its done again, please share the Search and the SearchReg.txt file here please.

    Thanks

    Tekky Boy,

I downloaded FRST64.exe. Why it says "64" ? Is it related to 64-bit architecture ? Anyway, when I launch this tool it tries
to open 'Windows Store' window and circles for ever...So, I am not sure what happens with this diagnostic tool.

    @Terrier

Sorry, unfortunately the wrong link crept in, here is the right link. Of course you need the 32bit version.

I found a 32-bit version of FRST.exe and tried it, again it starts Windows Store without apparent reasons.

In-place upgrade might not work in that version, but 2004 to 20H2 should work, so use 20H2 instead.

I am interested at least to see there Microsoft.NET 3 or 4.5 features.
For the future reference: You can try the offline installer for NET3.5
