Lets name and shame irritating companies

    Hi there
I'm starting with this one ashampoo

I've got junk emails from them nearly every day since downloading their software -- I've uninstalled and their email goes automatically to JUNK / SPAM folder.

Don't deal with companies who continually spam users of their products or keep trying to upsell to paid / more expensive versions.

I don't care how good the product is if the company does this type of thing "to annoyance" levels.

    Cheers

Maybe this could be a sticky to act as a service to help prevent grief for users. A couple of months ago I downloaded a freeware app, might have been from ashampoo and it quickly drove me nuts with spam and notifications nagging me to purchase. After a few days, it went to the bin.

Users could search the folder for app names before downloading them.

Just unsubscribe - or have you and you still get spam?

That's why I have an email specifically for things such as registering for software and one time emails to software companies ets. I only ever look at it when I register for something else for example.

    I hope this helps.

The unsubscribe option sounds like a great idea if spam was the only headache created.

Whatever freeware I recently tried was constantly popping up nag screens for me to upgrade to the paid version. I already use popup blockers and yet this nagging continued. Binning the app was the solution and to never download from that site again.

If I could post the site name somewhere, others could be saved the grief.

If the site requires an email address so it can send a download link, then I don't bother but look
elsewhere otherwise I just fill in a junk email address fred@yahoo or the likes, no spam from
    that as it doesn't exist.

I have eight email accounts that serve as cesspools.

I only give my primary email to legitimate companies and services.
For web sites (forums) like this I use a second email.

The eight crap-crud emails are for everything else. The spam goes there. And I never see it.

I used to do what Bengie said: Just make up an email, such as bozo@clown.com
But these days if you sign up for something they send a confirmation email to that address, and you have to reply or click a link.
So that's where my cesspool emails come in handy.

Ha. We should sticky this thread at the very least. Better yet, create a new subforum for this topic.

    Hi folks

same for those irritating companies when you eventually get through to their usually dreadful call centres situated in some 3rd world economic zone and fail to give you any satisfactory resolution to problems you get those robot requests "please fill in feedback on how you found our service"

If I answered what I really thought of them I'd be posting this from inside a jail cell !!!!

    Cheers
