Is WMP Dead? Cannot Find Album Info

I've been ripping my CDs for years. Everything was fine, until I came across one CD where I noticed that Windows Media Player hadn't identified correctly. I'd attempted to right-click on it and select Find Album Info. Normally, this brings up a wizard (if I recall correctly) and allows you to search for what you're looking for. Unfortunately when trying to access it, this is what I get:

Is WMP Dead? Cannot Find Album Info-wmperror.png

    Things I've tried:
    • Deleting the contents of this registry key: PREFERREDMETADATAPROVIDER
    • Adding 2.18.213.82 redir.metaservices.microsoft.com to the hosts file
    • Removing the contents of a folder (I forgot which one and I can't seem to find the pages now)

Nothing has worked. I need a ripping app that'll do WAV at max settings and give me album info. If there are other reliable alternatives out there, please let me know.

Any suggestions on how to fix WMP or what app I can use in place of it to rip and provide me with proper CD info?

I have never used WMP for ripping CDs, always a third party tool (there are just so many to choose from). Just to be clear, does this happen with EVERY CD or just that one?

If you're looking for a good, free, no bloat/adware CD ripper that's been around for a long time I highly recommend fre:ac.

    https://www.freac.org/

It will meet your needs (rip to WAV and query CDDB/freedb online CD databases for album/artist/track info).
