People app won't sort by last name and display last name first.

Like the title says. I am running Windows 10 19041.572 (May 2020 Update) and the People app is updated to it's latest version (10.1909.18041.0).

The app itself works flawlessly, but won't allow me to sort my contacts by last name first, and neither will it display the last names first.

On a local friends computer it works fine. His Windows 10 version is the same as mine, so is the People app.

I'm out of idea's... as I've tried creating a new Microsoft Account (that didn't change anything).

Anyone is welcome to reply with any bright idea's... as I'm out .

Did you change these settings in the app?

Yes, but they revert back to first name on both settings each time I enter the settings again.

In that case reset the app or uninstall / reinstall it.

    Been there, done that.

Edit: I was able to use Powershell to uninstall it. Bit once it was reinstalled, it was back on square one.

    Mine looks the same.

Edit: Anyone who's got any idea of what it could be?

What account is your People app syncing with? I use my Microsoft account which syncs with the same data I can see at Outlook – free personal email and calendar from Microsoft Check this online sorting works as you expect.

The contacts I see there also sort fine. The contacts in my Microsoft account also synch fine in Outlook 2010, 2016 and 2019.

Same with me I suppose. I sync all my contacts with one Microsoft Account. I will try and see on my spare laptop if I can upgrade it from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and see if its the same over there.

You could create a new account on the offending PC and see if that works to see if you have a weird account problem.
