2 Decades Since I Last Converted (Media Files) WMV To MP4 Question

Back in the day I used to have a whole host of different programs that would do the job now I am ignorant of what the gold standard app is. I want to retain viewing quality such as it is with WMV but I do not want each file (all under 1GB) turning into 10GB files. Oh, and I would prefer the app to be free : ) I know I can GOOGLE but I thought I would see first what you all recommend. TIA.

I think you will probably get a good selection of answers for your question.
Although I mainly convert DVD's, I have successfully used Handbrake for CD's, music files etc.

    Doesn't look like it : )

Yes, I remember Handbrake. Thanks. I'm also going to give VLC a shot.
