Movie Maker for Windows 10 ?

I think this questions needs updating, unless mistaken ; having a hard time finding Windows Movie Maker classic and getting it to run. I found a few copies but always run into some error message.

I used to have this installed on windows 10. but don't know where it went .

Need help installing again. I cant find a replacement that has the same features and ease of use .

Windows Movie Maker was part of Windows Essentials 2012. You can find the full offline installer for Windows Essentials 2012 in an archive Microsoft page from the Wayback Machine web archve here:

    https://web.archive.org/web/20161119...-download-now/

You may see errors reported by the installer, but despite those it should be capable of installing Movie Maker (even if is says it failed). Look at the Start menu and you may find it's there after all.

If that fails, then MiniTools repackaged just Movie Maker (plus Photo Gallery that it requires). Get that here:

Searching around my computer i found a exe for movie maker. it installed some other files. Then i got another error code.
    WLXPhotoBase.dll is missing

Unsure if this relates, i do tweak windows from time to time. I may have turned off some services that maybe interfering with install of this . But unsure. I forget what all I changed.

The page I gave you has downloads for both MiniTools own Movie Maker and for Microsoft's original Movie Maker, basically the Essentials 2012 installer with all the other packages removed. The one you want is Windows Movie Maker, NOT the MiniTools one.

I've just tested installing it in a 2004 test machine, no problems....

Well after Install of the Movie Maker you provided. it does not work. For some reason it will not run.

After a online search it seems im not the only one trying to get Movie Maker working again on Windows 10.

The repackaged installer from MiniTools installs the same version as was included in Essentials 2012. I use it all the time. I've checked the files it installs and they are the same ones as installed by the original Essentials 2012 installer on another machine.

Must be due to your tweaks. The one I just installed in W10 2004 (19041.508, x64) with the windows-movie-maker.exe downloaded from MiniTools is fully functional, Here it is in use....

I usually get a similar installation error message message but find the program has in fact been installed and works fine.
