    photos app keeps crashing

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help. I have been scanning lots of photos. Then I open them in Photos app, adjust the borders, rotate if necessary, then save. This was working fine. But recently, almost every other time I click save, the photo just closes and I have to do the adjustments again, and save. For some reason, the 2nd time is always ok. The next photo is usually fine, but then the next one has the issue again. Every 2nd time it has a problem. So I hit the Save button, the save menu then flashes on and off and it goes back to the previous programme (in my case the scan programme). The computer behaves normally for everything else. But it's been doing this for about a month or two now.
Having researched this on another website, I just used Powershell to delete the photos app, then reinstalled it from the Microsoft app store, but it's not improved much. Still crashes 40% of the time. Is there a better app that works well?

Hi, there are many free photo processing programs. And you don't have to use the Store either. Examples:
The best free photo editors 2020: free Photoshop alternatives | TechRadar
The best free photo editor in 2020 | Digital Camera World

Thank you dalchina. I will have a look later.

However, wouldn't you think Microsoft could get it right? It's their operating system, so I would think there may be a fix for my issue. Has anyone else had this problem & solved it?

Depends what the problem is. Could be something it's not happy about in your file system for example... I've not noticed anything similar reported.

I would have suggested re-registering it, but you already have.
You could try the Store apps troubleshooter.

As a diagnostic exercise, create a new user for test purposes, and report whether you see the same problem when logged in as that user.

What file types are you editing? What File size are said files?

And I agree, you shouldn't have to look third party to get your issue fixed. That said, I don't use the "Photos" app to edit my images, but instead both Lightroom and Photoshop. However I shoot RAW, thus Lightroom.

Someone else recently mentioned getting Photo.exe crashes in the Reliability Monitor after getting some Samsung driver updates and/or the 2004 .508 update..

Have a look at your Update History around the date this started, and see what changed since then.
Feel free to post a screenshot- don't forget drivers at the bottom.

My Photos is Microsoft Photos 2020.20090.1002.0 if that's of any help.

Thank you. The photos are nothing special, just scans, 300 dpi, colour jpg, scanned using Samsung SCX-3200. All are A4 size or smaller.
    My app: Microsoft Photos 2020.20090.1002.0
Microsoft OneDrive is full (5gb used, I'm not really interested in increasing it; I'm happy with my free Google drive allocation)

Please consider post #6 - odd things are happening in 2004 for some users.

    Related to that: again:
