    2 Skype installs - version 7.9 and version 8.58

I had upgraded my ProStar laptop from WIN 7 to WIN 10 earlier this year, and all went well.

However, I recently noticed that in Control Panel - Programs and Features, it shows 2 Skype installs - version 7.9 and version 8.58. Since my understanding is that Skype is now included with WIN10, and when I launch it, it shows version 8.64 (or 8.63), I am guessing that it would be safe for me to uninstall the two earlier versions.

Since I am at best a semi-techie, I wanted to try to confirm this is okay to do before I do it. Skype seems to work fine, and space isn't an issue, so this is just a housekeeping thing.

If I've put this post in the wrong place, please feel free to let me know or move it to the right thread - but I figured others doing an upgrade from 7 to 10 might have similar questions so here goes.

There are two versions of Skype, the Apps version (UWP) is the one installed with Windows 10.
You can also download and use the Desktop application version of Skype. 8.64.0.84
Download Skype | Free calls | Chat app

The Apps (UWP) version is in the MS Store.

I would uninstall all 3 and then download and install the latest desktop version if required.
A cleanup and install of the latest version.

The Apps(UWP) version does not show in the old Control Panel > Programs and features.
Easy to get both versions back.

That explains what's going on. Thanks! I think I will check the version number of the UWP, and if it is the most current, I might just leave it as it is and uninstall the other two. Regardless, I will post the outcome here and will close this thread accordingly assuming all goes well.
