Sad day for Internet Radio Listeners Tunein Regionally locked 10 Sept
Hi folks
I thought the Internet was meant to be International -- anyway since yesterday the Tunein radio service - 100,000's free Internet radio stations is now regionally blocked from its UK servers -- So for those things like classical music or other specialized music which have nothing to do with "commercial Rights" or Pirating - now a no go --even with a VPN you still get "regionally blocked" dependant on where the VPN's server is.
So Bye Bye an old friend --used to love all those foreign broadcasts and also great for language listening etc etc.
I suppose it's all the big boys forcing people into commercial subscriptions -- Apple etc - Bah Bah.
For the "North Korean" regime they seem to have in the UK currently regarding Internet issues -- I got this from the Tune in site
@TuneInSupport @cxxxx , Thank you for contacting us. Due to licensing issues, we have had to restrict content out of the UK. We apologize for the inconvenience.
BTW also an addendum -- The Premium service also will not remove the restriction - so no point in thinking about upgrading to get round the block.
I think this will be happening in other areas soon unless you register complaint !!
I've had to re-program my listening steam as I used to use a tunein server from the UK -- Server in Belgium still working though.
@ UK listeners - the web sites direct still stream - it's not as convenient though !!!!
Makes Chinese Internet seem positively liberal by comparison. !!!
If you use things like Sonos / Bose smart speakers problem also there as those often use the Tunein OPML streams for their streaming access. Not easy also to connect smart speakers via VPN -- maybe someone here can suggest !!!
Cheers
