Reset left start menu items that cannot be removed !

PC suddenly had an issue where the was too took ages to appear and the start button wouldn't respond. Restart, troubleshooter, repair didn't work so had to reset windows.

PC up and running again but all the programs it removed are still on the start menu !. Some would allow removal when it couldn't find the link but many wont and remain. They won't 'uninstall' as nothing is there and no unpin options. How do I remove the dead wood ??

    Thanks in advance...

Hi, if you wish to delete items from the folders which make up the start menu, posts #6,#7 here
2004 new machine where do I put startup shortcuts ?

    C:\Users\< username >\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

You can use Open Shell as a convenient way of editing the start menu.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Why did you say that?

Go and look for the shortcuts in the folders!!

I've told you what they are. Open the folders, delete the shortcuts !! Clear ??

    Hello DigitalDreams,

Unfortunately, Microsoft Store apps cannot be removed from the All Apps list by just deleting a shortcut.

Add or Remove Items for All Apps in Start menu in Windows 10

You might see if re-registering the Start Menu may help if it's just a glitch.

Re-register Start Menu in Windows 10

Otherwise, you could try re-registering all apps using option 1 below.
