    Text size in Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 and MS Publisher 2007

    This is my first time here and I need help with is a major problem for me.

    I recently bought a Microsoft Surface Studio computer and installed the latest version of Windows 10 (1909) on it. I do graphics work so I installed the programs that I use for my business. Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 and MS Publisher 2007. These both worked fine on my other Windows 10 with the same version.

    What is happening is in Publisher the page numbers at the bottom are very small and at 75 have a hard time reading them.
    (picture attached says PSP but is actually MS Publisher)

    I have some of the same problems in PaintShop Pro too... Some of the items come up so small they are hard to see. (see image PSP 2)

    I have tried everything. I don't want to change the display resolution because then everything else is too large.

    Can anybody help me...

    Thank you, Roger

    If you are running your Windows computer on a high resolution display, for instance one of those brand new 4K displays, you may have noticed that some text does not scale well. At such resolutions, Windows automatically turns on DPI scaling so everything on your screen becomes larger. However, there are some third party apps, which don't render properly on high DPI screens. They look too small for the screen resolution.

    Typically, such apps were written before high DPI displays appeared. They appear too small on the screen with impossible to read fonts and they don't scale properly.

    Let us see how to fix them if Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 does not scale them properly.

    This fix is applied on a per-app basis so you won’t have to worry about it affecting apps that don’t suffer from a small GUI.

    1. Open the Windows registry editor by typing regedit.exe into Start Menu and navigate to the following location:

    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide
    2. Create a new DWORD value and name it PreferExternalManifest. Double click it and set its value to 1.

    3. First, open the application folder for the application you need to fix the GUI for.

    4. Copy below codes and paste it in notepad.

    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>

    <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0" xmlns:asmv3="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3">

    <dependency>
      <dependentAssembly>
        <assemblyIdentity
          type="win32"
          name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"
          version="6.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="*"
          publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df"
          language="*">
        </assemblyIdentity>
      </dependentAssembly>
    </dependency>

    <dependency>
      <dependentAssembly>
        <assemblyIdentity
          type="win32"
          name="Microsoft.VC90.CRT"
          version="9.0.21022.8"
          processorArchitecture="amd64"
          publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b">
        </assemblyIdentity>
      </dependentAssembly>
    </dependency>

    <trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3">
      <security>
        <requestedPrivileges>
          <requestedExecutionLevel
            level="asInvoker"
            uiAccess="false"/>
        </requestedPrivileges>
      </security>
    </trustInfo>

    <asmv3:application>
      <asmv3:windowsSettings xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SMI/2005/WindowsSettings">
        <ms_windowsSettings:dpiAware xmlns:ms_windowsSettings="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SMI/2005/WindowsSettings">false</ms_windowsSettings:dpiAware>
      </asmv3:windowsSettings>
    </asmv3:application>

    </assembly>
    6. Save the manifest file with manifest extension. For example, Photoshop has a small GUI and Photoshop executable file is called Photoshop.exe. Note the name for the executable file. Next, rename the manifest file you just downloaded to Photoshop.exe.manifest. Copy this file to the same location as the Photoshop.exe file.

    Everything went well until I saved the file... It saved as a .txt not a manifest file... ???

    I haven't played with the registry for 20 year. It started coming back to me...

    You have to change the .txt extension to All Files (*.*) when saving the file.

    I changed the name of that file to MSPUB instead of PhotoShop and it still didn't work.

    So you changed it to MSPUB.exe.manifest if yes and if its not working then this tip does not work with your application.
