    Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) install fails

    I am trying to install some Dymo label maker software. As part of the install it installs both Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) and " Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x64).

    For some reason each time it tries to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) I get the error message-
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) install fails-failed-c-install.jpg

    I have tried installing several times and each time get this same message. I also tried a clean boot to install. Same thing. Can someone help?

    Have you tried to uninstall Visual C ++ 2013 before installing the program?

    I had not. I assumed it would not try to install it if it was already present. This is a computer at work. I can check that Monday.

    Try installing it first.

    Download Visual C++ Runtime Installer (All-In-One) - MajorGeeks

    Then reboot and run a windows update check and update any VC++ runtime updates/ security updates that may or mmay not show up.

    Then install your program.

    Can you explain the runtime installer? It does not reference that 2013 nor X86 version that is failing for me.

    The whole story- I am installing Dymo software that must be installed to work with Thriftcart for label generation. So, specific Dymo software (I believe to be an older version) must be installed, so the Thriftcart labels are formatted and print correctly. I can attest to installing and running this software successfully on 2 other Win10 PCs.

    When I used the latest Dymo software the labels printed wrong. When I changed to this software as instructed by Thriftcart the labels printed correctly.
    HERE is the link for the file DLS8Setup.8.7.3.exe. I would have attached it, but is shows as 162MB.

    The software is buggy. If later versions of MS Visual C++ runtimes are installed it fails to detect them and tries to install earlier versions which breaks those MS Visual C++ runtime installations.

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) install fails-installing.jpg

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) install fails-failed.jpg

    Allowing the install to continue doesn't allow those runtimes to install (because you can't install an earlier version over a later version) and it breaks the already installed versions. (They now show as 0 bytes)

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) install fails-broken.jpg

    It does actually install this:

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) install fails-installed.jpg

    I cannot test to see if the program will run (I suspect that it won't work anyway) as I don't have MS Office.

    Suggest:

    Remove those two VC++ Runtime versions if they already exist and reboot. Then try running the Dymo installer and see if it will install the earlier versions of VC++
