    Open Office white icons

I just built me another PC and after loading up Open Office all my desktop & file explorer icons for my Calc spreadsheets are white instead of the normal green all my other PC's are showing for the same software.

Trying to figure out why this is....After some research one difference is all my other PC's are on local accounts with win 10 home but I decided to try win 10 pro for this build and am currently signed in with a microsoft account.

Do you think it might be the account type that is the reason for the white icons.....Also all my PC's are running the latest version of win 10 2004.

You probably need to set file associatons and rebuild icon cache and notification area icons.

Just a note to say that for me OpenOffice caused explorer to freeze via desktop right click context menu> new

    FYI:

Rebuild Icon Cache in Windows 10

Reset Notification Area Icons in Windows 10

Wait for reboot prompt when running these.

I will give it a try......But why do I have to go through all this with this PC when all 4 of my other ones as soon as I used open with to point it to use Open office Calc they all just automatically turned green with me having to do nothing ?

Actually I've misread your post. I assumed all desktop icons were white so ignore what I posted but it would not hurt to try it anyway.

As it's free I'd suggest fully removing open office using a decent uninstaller that removes leftovers. Then reboot and reinstall it.

Also I can't see account type affecting anything but you might compare open office version and number with your other installs.

Apache OpenOffice appears to have almost ceased development and the last news was a general request for help in May this year. The last release (v4.1.7) is very close to a year old and the previous version was ~1 year before that.

I suggest you use LibreOffice. It is very nearly identical in function to OpenOffice but is under active development with a more frequent update release cycle and – IMO – better support from both developers and users.

    Hope this helps...

Ok problem solved.....I did as Callender suggested and deleted & reloaded it but this time I used 1 version back and after it was loaded up I just pointed open with to Calc and all icons turned green.

So I am GTG......Thanks everybody for your suggestions in helping me with my problem.
