Which files are safe to clean on CCleaner program?

My OS and passwords to sites I am logged into are my main concerns of messing up cause I have a lot of different passwords. I try to keep them all saved on a flash drive but, always manage to need one I can no longer find LOL! Thanks!

I would look into using a password manager.

The master file containing all passwords is stored encrypted on the local system.

I use one master file for both Edge and Firefox.

A password manager is the way to go. I have it on my phone so it is easy to access, no matter the PC I am at.

As for CCleaner in general, just be careful letting it have free reign to clean the Windows Registry. It will break Windows. Don't clean "bad" registry entries unless you know for certain they relate to files/programs you have moved or deleted. Trust me, I found out the hard way!

No reason to clean the registry at all.

Running Disk Cleanup in Windows is the safest way to clean up your system.

    Hi there

I'd advise against password managers or anything that's stored on any device that can be connected to a network.

In this case I prefer a bit of old fashioned "Dinosaur technology" -- write in a notebook kept in a secure place.

If it's not on a network it can't be hacked. !!!

Anything (unless it's on a "Quantum computer network" can be hacked these days) == OK the average person wouldn't be able to - but there's loads of other facilities that have incredible compute power -- with increasing sophisticated A.I "Brute force" cracking is about as old fashioned these days as those old "Comptometer Operators" in big firms offices adding up accounts !!!

CCcleaner is also IMO these days 100% not needed either --only install apps that have proper windows install / uninstall functionality and always take regular clean backups.

A phone is the worst possible place to store this stuff as well -- especially if you go through airports or travel a lot - phones can get lost, broken, stolen, you can get mugged, battery runs out when you need to access it etc etc.

When travelling just take a scan from your notebook and print -- keep the paper safe or throw away after you've used whatever account you need to logon to.

Nothing is 100% secure but the old paper and pencil bit I've found the securest compromise -- and I DO like technology --Old School still work OK at times.

I agree on CCleaner having very little use. It has become redundant in my opinion. Of course, I not so long ago wasted some money on another years subs to the pro /full version. I don't even have it installed. Nowadays it is PUP and deservedly so with the junk packed into the installer. Apparently that is being addressed but still.....

As for passwords on phone, I think phone is more secure than a black book. If someone wants to find your black book, they probably will. My passwords are behind the phones own access passcode and then in a secure password manager, encrypted, again with its own password. Even the FBI with all their secret tech needed to beg Apple to access phone data. They will lock my iPhone permanently long before guessing any access codes. But yes, never say never..... :)

    Hi there
Of course each to their own - however anybody "uninvited" entering my place would probably find they would be on the Dinner menu of 2 large Dobermann's !!!! and such Police as we have around here --very safe country - just the odd few drunks at weekends -- (Brit and German visitors are the worst though it seems -- Winner Germany slightly more !!) -- would reward the dogs too !!!!

    Cheers
