    I hate printers

This is off topic on a Win 10 board since I am running Win 8.1 on my laptop. Win 10 is on my desktop, which is not with me at the present time. I'm getting crazy.

I use WordPerfect x4. It's an older version of the program, but not that old.

I can't get my Brother printer (MFC L2700DW) to print from WP. It prints from everything else including Office 365 and Word. I have removed the drivers and the software suite, uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled it all from the original Brother CD and again from a downloaded copy from Brother, updated the drivers but still when I access the print menu, all the functions are there EXCEPT the "PRINT" button is greyed out, no matter if I select a different output device or print to file. I'm using an ethernet wired connection. I couldn't get it to connect to the wireless network. I've uninstalled the printer from WP, reinstalled it as both the default and not the default printer.

All I can do now is import documents to Word, clean up the formatting and print form there. Awkward but there are things WP does that you can't do in Word. ANYBODY GOT ANY IDEAS.

It's just a long shot but have you found where the print job from WP is actually going? One thing I've had to work with in dealing with some clients [older folks] is the Default printer set in Windows Printers and Devices gets set to something else like Print to PDF but not all programs adhere to that setting in their File, Print function. I have 2 printers and frequently have to check that instead of simply printing like using Ctrl + P which usually highlights the Default device. I use Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, Lotus WordPro and WordPerfect since WP for Windows 5.1, now on X8.

Why not printing to pdf, and then print the pdf. It keeps formatting.

    Have you tried

PrintButton Grayed out in WordPerfect Print Dialog Box?

    • Click the “Advanced” tab:
    • At the bottom left corner, UNcheck, “Document on Disk”
    • The “Printbutton should become active and stay active.

All the choices in the Print window are grayed out including “print to file” and “print to pdf”

Like above, there is nothing going anywhere since the “print” button is inactive

I didn’t get to try your solution since I knew Apt38's idea would be quick to try so I tried his idea first.

DING DING DING!!!! A winner! I am ever grateful for your solution. I had looked on the “advanced” button in the print window, but had not noticed this.

THANKS TO EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO ASSIST.
