    New PC problems


    I just received a new Dell Inspiron 3580 with Win 10 Pro. Used to have Win 10 Home.
    I'm have a big problem with getting Mozilla profiles into Win Pro. Nothing seem to work. I keep getting a message that my old profiles cannot be use in a different version of Win 10.

    Old PC ver Win 10 Home 2004, Built 19041.388
    New PC ver Win 10 Pro 2004, Built 19041.388


    I have searched for 3 days now and can not find any answers that work.
    Will I have to go back to Win 10 Home.

    Hi, are you referring to Thunderbird or Firefox?
    Which build? - is the version of those the same on each PC?

    Could you post the exact text of the error message (as text) and detail the method you are using to transfer the profile?

    Have you asked the question on a Mozilla forum?

    Beyond that, I've only ever had Pro, so hope someone else may be able to advise.

    Thanks for the reply. I have trouble with both Thunderbird AND Firefox profiles.
    I have been using results from both programs Help searches to transfer the profiles. It's only sometimes that I get the reply about different versions of Win 10. Most times nothing shows any change when running the programs. I get no accounts or mail in T'Bird - bookmarks, logins etc in Firefox.

    I have tried using the Profile Managers to "create a new profile", rename a profile and replace a profile. I even tried replacing the folders that contain everything about each program.

    I'm about ready to try a repair of Win 10 Pro and see if that will help (don't know why if would because it's only a few day old).

    Any suggestions?

    I would doubt repairing your Win 10 will help.

    First make sure you've created a 'clean' situation - e.g. uninstalled T'bird/ removed any profile on the target PC.

    Then, following that procedure, and with reference to that, when do things go wrong?
