The main issue I've had with Photos is even when wanting to view a single image it seems to read all the images before it opens to show just the one desired. It takes longer the first time opened in a session but quicker in next opens until a reboot or restart.

I just use the Photos app for a quick view, otherwise I use Adobe Lightroom to view and edit photos.
Hardly 'quick'. Photos can take up to 15 seconds to open an image the first time, and still takes one or two seconds after that.

Windows Photo Viewer is always less than a second which is why it's my preferred 'quick view'. For editing I use PaintShop Pro, and even there WPV scores, it's quicker/easier to 'open with' from WPV than it is from Photos

Restore Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 10

Apparently if you use option 1 here it can cause the problem so try option 2
Callender, Tx for that info. (From the Tut) I first did the removal of Windows Photo Viewer, rebooted, then did the install, rebooted and it appears that option 2 was the ticket. I now have options with "save as". This looks normal now.

From others that suggested options for replacement, I am working thru them now. Tx

The issue I have with Photos is the same as Berton complained about in post #11. It's unnecessarily slow to open the first time you uses it after starting up Windows.

Personally I removed the photos app a couple of days after first use.
