    It is set within the file, but you can easily do something like this:

    Best answer I could find... I'm sure there's a registry tweak that will do this as well, but in the meantime, you can use a template.

    Here is a really detailed article. Note that it is very old, hopefully this still works.

    Searching initially turned up this link.
    windows - How do I open WordPad with predefined text (like a template)? - Super User

    I tried it using my filepath & it works - sort of. The template opens with the correct line spacing but still opens with Calibri 11 point. Doesn't matter whether I saved the template in .rtf , .odt or .docx.

    Even if I right click on a template file & use "Open With" it still reverts back to Calibri 11 point when WordPad opens.

    Any suggestions?

    I found a solution on page 4 by Paul.Kay.
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...40a4315&page=4

    Open Wordpad and save a blank document. Open the blank document with Notepad. You will see the strings which control the defaults when Wordpad is opened. Here is an example.

    {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\nouicompat\deflang1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil\fcharset0 Arial;}}
    {\*\generator Riched20 6.3.9600}\viewkind4\uc1
    \pard\sa200\sl276\slmult1\f0\fs24\lang9\par
    }

    I changed the font & point size & saved the file and it works.

    And yet another suggestion is to amend WordPad's MUI file.

    See this superuser article: Wordpad in Win 7: How to change the default font and size?

    I haven't tried it but apparently it works for Win 7 upwards.

    Hope this helps...
