About changing the install location for new windows apps.

There was a post I found and I linked to it in a microsoft support ticket, the post is now gone but I saved a cached version:

    "
How to change install directory for xbox (beta) app gamepass on pc
If you are like myself and use a modist sized drive for windows and use a larger drive for gaming you generally want to install your games on your storage drive not your boot drive, but as it stands by default when you goto use the xbox beta app it wont allow you to change from its default installed drive.

A easy to fix this is to goto system- then storage- and under the storage tab find " change where new content is saved" then select "new apps will save to" and select your preferred storage drive.

Then uninstall your xbox (beta) app, and reinstall it, now when you goto install a new game on the pc game pass it will give you the option to select what drive you want to install it on.

This issue happens because by default windows needs to recognize that your pc has the folder called windows app on that drive and that it has been setup by a windows app installer atleast once, for the xbox (beta) app to recognize the new (useable) install location for your games and apps

    Hope this helps everyone :)"

I had already set this tip when I started installing Halo: The Masterchief Collection, but I appear to have 70MB/s write activity on my C: drive. It only has 17GB not enough for this game. Previously it would not install. I had trouble with Microsoft-Windows-MediaFeaturePack-OOB-Package_x64.msu. I went to settings > apps > optional features > and searched for mediafeature. I installed this and rebooted. I was crashing with the Xbox app (beta) which I installed to claim my free time playing games from xbox game pass. Now I didn't bother installing it because I saw it on the microsoft store after installing the mediafeature pack for win 10 pro n.

    I'm on windows 10 2004.

I realise this is a bit rambly but these issues are all related. Mediafeature pack was also evidently not installed correctly from viewing (or not being able to on select videos) youtube.

I'm still downloading to my C: drive at 60-80Mb/s (well maybe not still downloading but still writing); there is no increase in used space: doesn't compute.

Edit: Apparently it was a logfile writing. I rebooted and visited xbox companion (under installed apps) and it pointed to the microsoft store to buy a game. Its installing Halo masterchief collection to the correct partition now, I have xbox game pass free time for qualifying AMD purchase.

I have already downloaded this once in 1909 but the xbox (beta) app wanted to delete that.
