Does iTunes only keep the last backup made?

Not sure if this is the right place to be doing this; if so, please let me know.

I was in the middle of restoring my iphone backup last night (due to the "system" section under storage filling up so fast and hoping it would fix it) and just went to sleep to wait for it to finish. But apparently, it decided to update or backup or something, for some reason, and now the only backup that itunes will show me is the one made last night. Is this just final and my egregiously large photo album is simply gone?

Hi flightFear. Welcome to TenForums @flightFear

As far as I know it only keeps one.

That said do you have backups of your data that you could restore from? c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\apple computer\Mobile Sync\backup

Before restoring I would protect the backup you have. NOTE: I haven't tried this before but offer it up as a possibility to get pictures back. This article would suggest it is possible under the section titled Storing multiple backups.

I copy my pictures out separately and do the iphone backup.

Hopefully you Image system as the appdata path is not a regular data backup path.
