I don't think I need an Xbox to exchange messages with a group of friends. A regular PC seems more fitting.
In fact, I've never even looked at an Xbox in my life and I don't know what it's supposed to do.
Sorry, just an old fogey.

I don't understand it either, just going by what the app site stays.

Have you tried from the App store?

This is what it shows in the store, no mentions of Xbox:

Cannot download GroupMe-image.png

I clicked on get and it worked okay, no problems.

Maybe try it from there

Try the DISM and SFC commands, see if that makes any difference.

Open a Elevated Command Prompt:

1. Click Start
2. Type cmd
3. Right click on Command Prompt at top of window and select Run as Administrator

Run these commands in sequence from a Elevated Command Prompt window, up to 3 times until you get a complete clean run, no errors:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
SFC /scannow

Don't clear the Command Prompt window by entering cls at any time. When you are done, right click on the Command Prompt Title bar, click on Edit then Select All. Click on Edit then Copy.

Open a post in this thread, click on the code icon (#) then paste the data you copied between the

tags.

This might be an easier way for users -

When running the DISM commands, copy/paste the following, and press Enter...

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup > "%userprofile%\Desktop\dismSCC.txt"
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth > "%userprofile%\Desktop\dismRH.txt"

This will create text files on the Desktop called dismSCC.txt.txt and dismRH.txt

Note: /RestoreHealth can take a while. You can open the text file and see the progress.

For SFC results, copy/paste the following, and press Enter...

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log > "%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

This will create a text file on the Desktop called sfcdetails.txt

You can then put them all in a zip file, and include as an attachment in a post.
