tenmen has already used my script to create an elevated desktop shortcut, which can launch the game according to post #23. So, I think it is not a compatibility problem.

I just downloaded and ran "arma.exe", which the OP sent me in private. I have got the following:

Am I right in thinking that an installer is needed?

That is an exe.file for running of the game,it is not an installer.

Do I need an installer to install the game on my Windows 10? It does not seem to be a portable game.
