How can I disable the zoom function in windows notepad?
I have windows 10. When I check the "About" section in notepad it says:
Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.900)
I hate this zoom thing, it's driving me crazy. How can I disable it?
And if I can't disable it, is there a way for me to downgrade notepad, back to how it was in version 1803?

Notepad hasn't changed in decades. Zoom is the same as it was in previous versions. Press CTRL+0 to go back to default zoom setting.
How come? You have to specifically select it from the menu, use the keyboard shortcuts, the wheel on the mouse or a two finger gesture on a touchpad. to make it zoom. And Ctrl+0 will reset it to default if you zoom by accident. I use Notepad every day and have never seen it zoom on its own.
Well, not true. I'm sitting on a Windows 1803, and ctrl+mouse wheel does nothing.
Next to me is Windows 1909, and ctrl+mouse wheel zooms in and out.
Not a big change, but a change nontheless.
I use notepad A LOT, and I use it fast, and if zoom is working with ctrl+mouse wheel, it messes with me often.
And I'll tell you the exact scenario.
I go to notepad, I select text and I press ctrl+c to copy it, and then I immediately hit the scroll on the mouse to scroll up or down. But if I didn't release the "ctrl" key from when I copied the text half a second ago, now all of a sudden I get crazy zoom. This is horrible.
On Windows 1803 if this occurs, nothing happens. No scroll and no zoom. Then I just release the "ctrl" key and I proceed with my work.
On Windows 1909 if this occurs, all of a sudden I have a zoom. And now I have to zoom it back. I already lost. Why waste the time? Why this sudden change in my eyes? No, **** no, I don't want this.

How can I move notepad from my lap top (version 1803) to my other lap top (version 1909)?
Then I'll just set the older notepad version to be the default text editor, and that will do it I think.
Problem is, I can't find Ms Notepad anywhere to download (except some shady sites that I'm sure are filled with viruses and malware and ransomware). And I also tried moving the notepad file from C:\Windows, but I can't even get it to open on the other lap top.
Any ideas?
it seems you asked this question in 2018. Change Zoom Level of Text in Notepad in Windows 10 There is an app to disable Zoom in Notepad ++, I'm not sure if it will work in standard MS Notepad.

Personally I mostly use this:
DocPad - the completely free text editor for Windows.
Zoom is via Shift + F6, F7
Select all text to end of line - just double click end of line.
Open multiple text files in tabs.
Free.
If I need more advanced features I use this:
RJ TextEd - The Unicode source and text editor
Portable version available.
It's not about the mouse settings. Last year I updated my old machine and after update the same thing happened. So I reverted/downgraded my Windows version in order to get the old notepad back :)
No man, I didn't ask the question in 2018. I asked the question on that thread yesterday.
Aha, see, other people have the same problem. But that solution is for Notepad++, and unfortunately I don't think it will work for microsoft notepad. But I will ask on Github if perhaps it also works for ms notepad. Thanks :)
Thanks man, but there is no better text editor for my needs than the basic and simple notepad. The rest are not as fast, not as bug-free.
That said, I already also use Ted Notepad and Notepad2 for certain things. But none can compare to notepad.

I tried uninstalling notepad using all 3 methods described here - How to Install and Uninstall Notepad app in Windows 10
But it didn't work
The idea is to remove notepad, and then try to install the version I found here - Repair and Download Notepad.exe
It seems like an older version, so it should solve my problem.
Any ideas guys?
That I can help you with. There are two files you need to copy, C:\Windows\Notepad.exe is one of them. The other is Notepad.exe.mui and you will find it in a sub-folder of C:\Windows. The name of the sub-folder to look for depends on the install language of your Windows. For my UK English install it is C:\Windows\en-GB\Notepad.exe.mui.
Copy these two files to a folder of your choice on your other PC. Do NOT replace the copies in C:\Windows or they'll likely get repaired/removed later by an update or a windows repair. I would suggest you make an 'OldApps' folder in C:\Program Files. Put the .exe in the OldApps folder, and the .mui in a sub-folder with the same language name it had on the old PC. Putting it in another folder not only protects it from being lost at the next upgrade, it also means you can still run the current Notepad whenever you need, in fact you can run both at the same time if you wish.
Here I have the 1803 Notepad running on a 19041.329 2004 machine.
