I installed Potplayer and I'll use it as an alternative to VLC. As for madVR I can never understand how to use it. I tried in the past to use it, but I never got to see where the the settings are for this program. I cannot understand if I have to run an executable or I have to see the settings in my media player.
    FYI:
VLC --really good tool for repairing corrupt video files (mp4 etc)

You'll need to download madVR and unzip it somewhere safe (you can't delete the folder later);run Install.bat as an administrator; run madHcCtrl.exe to access your settings. You will see the icon in the system tray. Right click for settings.

Then set as video renderer in your video player.

Thank you! I was trying to find out what program I should run to madVR's access settings. A couple of hours after installing Pot player I got a warning from Windows about a Possible Unwanted Application (adware), namely FusionCore. I decided to play safe and I uninstalled Pot player.

Where did you get it from? I always get it here:

    Download Potplayer 32-bit 1.7.21212 for Windows - Filehippo.com

And not direct from the manufacturer's site.

    False positve detection by Microsoft:

    VirusTotal report for PotPlayer

    Go figure.

    MPC-BE with MadVR:

A problem with "Open" menu context - affects one particular program-madvr-2.jpg

    Then ReClock for audio renderer:

I got it from the Pot player website. I don't suppose that another website might have a "clean" version.

The manufacturer's site version might contain adware or offers that need to be declined on install.

The version I scanned on VirusTotal is the one from FileHippo.

It scans clean with everything on my machine including:

Comodo, Zemana antimalware pro, Nano AV,Ultra Adware Killer, Malwarebyres Adwcleaner.

If your security software doesn't like it then I suppose that you can't use it until they fix their virus definitions database.

    RE: MadVR.

    Here's how it's installed:

FYI. MadVR works fine on default settings but can be tweaked.

As far as i can work out the installer "might" come bundled with an offer.

A problem with "Open" menu context - affects one particular program-image.png

You could try this. Let me download it and scan it:

PotPlayer Portable 1.7.21212 adfree (without Adware) Download

For that portable version - 3 False positives:

    VirusTotal

    All files extracted:

A problem with "Open" menu context - affects one particular program-sigcheckgui.jpg

    Codec Pack:

A problem with "Open" menu context - affects one particular program-sigcheckgui-2.jpg

There's nothing wrong with the one you downloaded. It's just a false positive detection by Microsoft.

Thank you. I installed it with Total Uninstall, so I should be able to do a safe uninstall if necessary. There was no sign of any third party software being pushed to me to install during the installation.

I also installed madVR and changed the Pot player video rendering setting accordingly, but I left everything at default.
