OneNote for Windows 10 shortcut fails

i pinned the OneNote for Windows 10 app to the TaskBar.

when i click on the shortcut, it opens the app. if i click the shortcut repeatedly, the app minimizes then maximizes as it should.

if i minimize the app and go onto other tasks, when i click on the shortcut to maximize the app, nothing happens.

if i right-click the shortcut and select "OneNote for Windows 10", the first instance of the app reopens with a second instance of the app overlaid.

    Hi. Welcome to TenForums @jluther614

Did you have this same behaviour in 1909?

I ask as your avatar area says 19041.264 but you post says 1909.

Is this a case where you forced 2004 and then went back to 1909.

Do any other apps act this way on taskbar?

I tried to emulate your issue on my system, 1909, and could not replicate.

Could be you have to uninstall and re-install to correct glitch if this only app with this behaviour.

This looks like a fresh install from last week. Is this a new install? As well is this Windows running on a MAC.

yes ken, it's a fresh install from last week.
downloaded and installed every update i could find.
    just tried an experiment:
    - unpinned ONW10
    - opened the app then minimized it
    - continued my normal tasks
    - clicked the unpinned shortcut, worked as expected
so the shortcut fails only when pinned to the taskbar.
    wierd, huh?

PS sorry about the old system info

No biggy, just 2004 is having some teething pains.

And Windows on MAC is something I don't do, maybe I should start.

If you run SFC /scannow is windows reporting any issues?

i'll try SFC and let you know what happens.
check out my lastest discovery: when i pin ONW10 to the taskbar, the shortcut is missing

PS maybe the behavior is due to its being a live tile?

windows installed on MBP is the best of both worlds!

Mine is not a live tile. What do you see in the way of a live tile in taskbar.

Yours is different than mine. Even when I right click the screen is different.

and I'm definitely running same app, maybe not same version.
