Potential problem with new Power Toys App

I installed the power toys app a few days ago, no problem, today a pop up message said a power toys update Is ready to install....so that completed ok, but I was unable o restart the PC, received a light blue Screen saying windows needed repairing.....luckily I have a MR image backup from yesterday , so will restore that. Just a warning in case It happens to anyone else....

I installed this today and tried to uninstall it later but the uninstall didn't seem to complete. Rebooting made no difference - I too have an image from earlier on today which I might resort to.

UPDATE: Ran a System Restore which was successful in getting me back to a state before I ran the installation of Power Toys - phew!!!

Me too re MS - feel especially blessed that System Restore worked as it's failed me a couple of times recently........

Think only once ever has system restore worked for me, which is why O have a scheduled Macrium reflect back up every day, a full backup once a week and an incremental every day.....have a dedicated 2TB HDD.....couldn’t manage without it....use the FREE version...

I've used Casper {now on version 10.1, I think) from Future Systems Solutions for more than a couple of decades as my backup software. Currently rotate bootable incremental backups to two SSDs in USB enclosures alongside incremental images to another similar USB SSD. Not a free solution but has always worked for me and I've confidence in it.

I understand how good Macrium is but I've used Casper for ever and I think it does everything Macrium does, and it's always done what I've asked of it........

The new Power Toys is abysmal (is it an "official" MS program? Might be called "Microsoft" Power Toys, but ....)

The new version is not even close to the original brilliant XP version Power Toys or TweakUI.

Also Geek Uninstaller is a good program for uninstalling and then cleaning up

Only got powertoys, because a friend has a US keyboard and needed remapping, unless there is a better alternative
