    Maps app not working...?

Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

Whenever I go to load the included Maps app, it tries to load, even showing my local map, before it just shuts down after three seconds.
I followed the tutorial to remove apps as show here (I used Powershell - Option #2)
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4...dows-10-a.html

The app uninstalled cleanly and after a quick restart it was gone from my Start Menu.
I went to the store and found it again (Windows Maps) and reinstalled.
Still no luck - same behavior - it tries to load then shuts down.
    Any suggestions?
FWIW, it works fine on my desktop running the same OS - Pro 64-bit.

    Thanks in advance...

Never mind - I fixed it...
Turns out I had more than just one problem.

As far as the maps were concerned it seems to have been tied into the fact that my Location service wasn't running and the Location switch (under Privacy) was greyed out, and nothing I tried would correct it.
Also, I was playing around with the new features of WinX while trying to locate that problem when I also accidentally removed Cortana. Just one thing after another.
The last thing I tried was a system restore, which in all my years of running Windows products, I think that actually worked maybe three times - utterly useless...

Then I found a Windows Repair utility at tweaking.com.

I figured what the heck, I was about 10 seconds removed from doing another clean install and having to reinstall all my apps and settings ...again.
Ran that once (in safe mode) and it fixed all of the above problems on the first try - even a few that I wasn't yet aware of.

Seems Windows 10 is a little bit fragile...

I opened display settings (desktop right click) and checked maps offline, it was turned off. So I activated it and Google maps has started again.
