    Hello @Callender,

    Just to add:

Today I installed Awesome Video Player and on first run it crashed straight away. Research shows that it's last update was 2018 so I tried uninstalling using Geek Uninstaller which also froze during uninstall.

So I ran Hibit Uninstaller which detected problems with an incomplete install of Awesome Video Player and managed to remove it including all registry entries. My other uninstall monitor program did not detect any leftovers once Hibit Uninstaller finished the removal.

So that's another one to consider with straightforward setttings which in my opinion Revo lacks.

    Download HiBit Uninstaller - MajorGeeks

Tip: Don't use the registry cleaner component (available in Tools drop down menu)
That sounds interesting, I will have to investigate that at some stage!

You could just test the portable version which I sometimes use.

    I use the following:
    www.geekuninstaller.com/download
    Randy's Download Homepage

The second one will create a record of added files and registry keys, both of which can be deleted by a batch script.

I like the sound of the second one!

Sorry, registry keys are deleted by a .reg file rather than a .bat file.

I do have an app that monitors installs but since it monitors all changes during an installation it requires the user to know which files and registry enties need to be deleted from the trace before an uninstall so it's problematic for some users.

Another one I use is BCUninstaller:

I've never found the "perfect" uninstall utility. In many cases a manual reg cleanup is required for those of us who are fussy about removing entries that are for the most part harmless leftovers.

I have recently switched to HiBit Uninstaller. I was using Geek, Wise and Revo Free before.

Fairly recent comparison made by @jackuars and I can concur the result based on my usage of those 4.

    VERDICT

    1. HiBit uninstaller
    2. Revo uninstaller free
    3. Wise program uninstaller
    4. Geek uninstaller free
    5. IObit uninstaller free
    6. Glarysoft absolute uninstaller free

FINAL VERDICT: (small change in standings)

    1. HiBit uninstaller
    2, Revo uninstaller Free
    3. Geek uninstaller Free
    4. Soft organizer Free
    5. Wise program uninstaller

Do you mean "it requires the user to confirm which files ..."?

No. The one I use includes all changes (including changes not related to the software being installed) so those changes need to be excluded from the trace.

    Example program:

    best uninstaller - tests / analysis-monitored-installations-3.jpg

So some items need to be excluded manually before uninstalling:

    Another program:

Again some items need to be removed from the trace:
