    Hi folks

the most perfect "Un-install utility" bar none is simply 1) take macrium free image BEFORE adding software -- on typical windows system should only take around 15 mins maximum --then 2) if you don't like the software installed / just want to get rid etc - simply restore the version of windows that you created in 1).

Why people seem to have so much trouble or don't back up systems when excellent free programs like macrium free are available --I've no idea --especially with cheap SSD's around --it's a no-brainer.

Same with "cleansing a computer" if ever infected with a virus -- simpy restore clean version -- far quicker and more reliable than any "cleaning" or "un-installing" program.

If you don't want to use free macrium -- although loads on this forum like it and use it a lot - other backup / restore systems would also work.

    Cheers

    @jimbo45

That is true but if you want to remove software that you have installed months or even a year or more ago then it's hardly practical to restore a very old system image backup. Your method would be fine for software testing though.

No. The one I use includes all changes (including changes not related to the software being installed) so those changes need to be excluded from the trace.
The one I use also includes all changes, including those unrelated to the installation, but I can add excluded folders, such as "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender". I won't run anything else during the installation, so I believe anything included can safely be deleted. The created record is a .txt file, which can be edited at will. I won't use it to uninstall updates, though.

tried uninstalling using Geek Uninstaller which also froze during uninstall.
So I ran Hibit Uninstaller which detected problems with an incomplete install of Awesome Video Player and managed to remove it including all registry entries. My other uninstall monitor program did not detect any leftovers once Hibit Uninstaller finished the removal. So that's another one to consider with straightforward setttings which in my opinion Revo lacks.
    1. ratings on this site 'majorgeeks' is unreliable alot of this stuff is 5/5 that is very untrustworthy
    2. the comments are better im gonna go with this hibit thing
    3. have had problems with the other uninstallers they arent good so dont know why ppl are saying its good
    4. i tested some of them one time by uninstalling things at the same time, i cant remembr which ones missed things etc

    ill look at the settings

ok lets look at some basic thing about this:

    1. low rating on this site HiBit Uninstaller 2.3.50 Free Download for Windows 10, 8 and 7 - FileCroco.com
    2. but looks like is highest rating for 'uninstallers' but not many rating for some other options
    3. so site HiBitSoftware looks clean visually
    4. and who/what it's made by is most important thing About seems like solo dev that's a slight positive

so seems reasonable to install so lets do that now

The uninstaller works fine. Portable so test and ditch it if you don't like it.

The other bundled tools are not great except for:

    windows app store manager
    browser extension manager
    empty folder cleaner
    shortcuts fixer
    context menu manager

I don't make use of the other tools.

It is portable. You don't have to install it. Just extract the files from primo.zip and run Regshot before installing software. It is so simple that even an idiot like me can use it with ease.

i do not like program with installers
i am using 64 apps on my computer
61 of them is portable (i do not account nirsoft and sysinternals)
chrome, 7-zip, and a genealogy app are installed on my pc

but sometimes i am trying programs with installers
most of the games requires install
sometimes i am trying programs with installers

if i have a problem with uninstall, i am using wise uninstaller
i went to hibit website and downloaded all 3 portable apps, it seems everything is ok
