    WMC substitute?

I installed Windows 10 on a new HDD that was in my Laptop. So the WMC that comes with Win 7 was not installed.
And because I knew that fact, I installed RP 18 and then, later, the VLC media player. But the results were the same.
Only a one minute from the DVD is played, and I have no control in selecting the main menu.
On the Internet, some people seem to think that this is caused by the WMC not being installed.
Question: What would be a good substitute for the Windows Media Center, so that I will be able to play my DVDs again?
Or could the problem be for some other reason?

Hi, could you confirm you've installed the desktop exe/dll version of VLC player, not the one from the Store?

VLC player should be fine- of course, you're free to try something different for comparison.

VLC (the installed version, not the one from the Store) works fine on my machines in 1909, build 18363.836. I'm currently 15 minutes into 'Rise of Skywalker' just to check that no recent update has broken anything.

It must be 'some other reason'.

    WMC Substitute

I'm sorry, but I'm not very familiar with VLC! I'm a PC user.
So If there are two or more versions of this software, I can't confirm It. But the one that I wanted installed is suppose to have all kinds of 'bells' and 'whistles' included with it. And these accessories show up down at the bottom of the screen.
Clicking on the VLC Desktop Icon does not give me any help as to what Version of this Software is installed.
So, can give me some more help? Like, where I can go to find this Info?

There are two ways to get VLC, one is to download and install it from the official site. It's also available as a Window App from the Microsoft Store, but that version has less features. The best way to get it is to install the full version.
