Windows 10 Photo app open double window

When I want to open some picture in windows 10 photo viewer he open separate window with some album and other stuff, and I don't want that, I just want to see that photo that I open. I am really struggling with this new photo viewer, is there any fix or something to force that photo viewer to just open my photo when I click on her and not the other window with albums too.

Which application is it that you are using? The new Photo App or (the old) Photo Viewer?

Maybe you can fix this by changing the default program: Rightclick on an affected file, Open with and then set another app as default. Afterwards, change back to what you had before.

I am using new "Photos" default picture veiwer from windows 10.

I tried that to put infranview as default and pick Photos again, but still same, he just open two window when I want to open some picture, and it's not happening every time it happends from time to time like in a day few times and sometimes he just open that picture that I want but without that other windows (album, collection), really strange...

In deed... My next try would usually be to check the file associations for the affected file type are correct. But I currently don't know how to fix this problem, if it only happens "sometimes"...

Here I took a screenshots so you could understand me better, I mean everyone is having this issue it's not only me I mean everyone who is using Photos default photo viewer of microsoft windows 10.

On first picture you see when I open photo window behind photo opens
Windows 10 Photo app open double window-1.jpg

If there is any way to disable this window to open
Windows 10 Photo app open double window-2.jpg

and after that when I close both windows, and open that same photo again, it open just that photo without that other window. And that happends often, not sometimes, every time I restart PC same story, and every day for few times.

    I have exactly same problem.
    To reproduce bug.
    1. open folder that contain .jpg photo
    2. double click or click on that photo and press enter on keyboard to make sure you open once
    3. windows 10 open collection window with photo viewer window.
If step 3 is not occur, you may need to restart pc/log out and re log in/turn off and turn on pc. This problem does not happen everytime.

    Hello Thermaltake,

It's a bug with the Photos app. If you like upvote it in Windows Feedback to help get more attention to Microsoft for it.

If you like, you can use Windows Photo Viewer as your default app instead.

Hi, I know it's a bug I found several more bugs and report them on microsoft community

    here:
Windows 10 Photo app open double window - Windows 10 Forums

I don't know if microsoft developers will see it there to fix it. Plus you can't zoom in that "Photos" viewer I mean I found a way by pressing crtl and scrolling but that's really lame I mean what was so wrong with old photo viewer and normal scrolling to zoom. I saw that I can install back that old photo viewer I have infranview, but Photos is not that bad it just need some fixing and it will be just ok for using, it's much smoother when sliding pictures and other good stuff he have, but fixing is mandatory.

Plus I'm on HDD sata 3 6gb/s and on win 8.1 windows boot in 49 seconds, and now windows 10 fresh install not upgrade boot in 79 seconds, I was shocked I mean new windows, they must fix that too I feel like I'm back on Windows 7 with slow boot like that.
