Point... there's no "rule" that says you have to move to core "folders" off the OS drive - just move the data. I personally do not advise splitting the OS (moving to base folders to another drive). And with a 256gig SSD there's not need to.

I would have thought the word "data" - and the non-capitalisation of content type: documents instead of Documents, pictures instead of Pictures, etc, was a give-away that reference was only to the contents, not the named folders ... then, how the user achieves that move is up to the user (change settings, manual move or auto scheduled move).

Leaving the user folders ("core" folders as you call them) as installed by the OS makes it much easier to create and restore a system/OS images.

That's the primary reason why it's been suggested above that *ALL* personal data (documents, pictures, videos, music, etc) be moved to/stored on the HDD. If you have the luxury of 2 drives (which you do) none of this (documents, pictures, videos, music, etc) belongs on the SSD with the OS and programs.

It would be a waste of a valuable (SSD) resource to install other programs on the HDD and then keep storing personal data on the SSD ????

Well, I think that I have made some progress in that I just installed a software which I directed the installation to the D: drive which I had created a "Program Files (x 86) folder and the installation went smoothly and was partially stored in that directory as I wanted it to.

Now as for the part of the C: drive that has all of my "User" files in it like pictures and music as well as documents in it, do I just make new folders for those items on the D: drive to send those files to or can I set up all my User files on the D: drive somehow. Please bear with me fellas, I learning as I am going but I am not entirely computer literate as you guys are.

I you want to change the location where Windows automatically send pictures, music, and documents then you can create new folders on the D: partition and then instruct Windows to send any new files there instead of to the folders on C:

Brink has several tutorials on how to do this. I will post 3 of them, but you will notice that it is the same procedure each time for each folder.
Move Location of Pictures Folder in Windows 10
Move Location of Documents Folder in Windows 10
Move Location of Downloads Folder in Windows 10

As for any pictures, music, and documents currently in those folders you can just cut and paste them to the new folders.
EDIT: I just saw in those tutorials that this procedure will allow you to move all the files currently in the folders to the new folder location if you direct it to.

Even better, just get in the habit of directing anything you save to the folder you want. Letting things happen automatically is convenient, but you don't learn anything.
