    Your Phone Companion failures

My phone is an Android. On Windows (10, Enterprise) YPC works, then doesn't work, then works, etc. The app says it's OK (on Android). When the app works, it is VERY USEFUL. But then it doesn't work and there is no meaningful diagnostic tools.

I've found the app to be so so at times without rhyme or reason why it goes on the fritz at times

I'm running an Android device - Samsung Galaxy Note 9. So far (after the last connection fail) it's been working for a little over a month without issue.

The issue I sometime have is the phone call part where it fails connect at times and I get "something went wrong, try again later". The workaround I found is to first setup Phone screen, then setup calls.

Sometimes restarting the phone helps, or at least the software starts working after a while. Sometimes it just starts working by itself. I cannot understand why it is so flaky and also why there is never any guidance from Microsoft on how to solve these connection problems.

The only error message I get is "Make sure your computer and phone are connected to the Internet". Because, when you do "make sure", then what?

Yep. Or simply unlocking the phone - I have my phone setup to go into auto lock when not in use. Sometimes unlocking to phone will allow a reconnect.

My phone is unlocked and running just fine. And both phone and computer are connected to the same network. I do use NordVPN on both the computer and the phone.

I have it happen when I haven't any (bar showing Signal Strength) on mobile thus wont be able to make/receive calls on the your phone app on my PC so have to check I have a good signal and in range of blue tooth

It would be cool if the your phone app on PC showed the signal strength

It will if you use Phone Screen (screen mirroring)...

My phone shows signal strength. Both are on the same network. Obviously there is some kind of connection that YPC uses that is not obvious. But again, AFAIK there is no way to dig further.

YPC just doesn't think it is connected to the phone, or something. The error msg is very vague.

To me, this is a huge failure on part of Microsoft. This is just as if some small team of 1st year programmers were given a task and now unsupervised. Weird.

If you mean there's no other way to show the phone's signal strength outside of screen mirroring, well yeah, I've not seen that either. But is it really that important? Especially if you're on your home's Wi-Fi network as I am.
