Does anyone have any luck with Windows 10 photos app?
I did a few things with it and lost some albums...

You need to provide a bit more detail. I use the app all the time, but only as a viewer.

One of the first things I uninstall ... good for viewing, unstable/unreliable for anything else.

Plenty of freeware 3rd party programs are more useful, do a better job and then some ...

What I liked about it (if it works properly) is how it will recognize new photos from iPhone and copy just those. That could save a lot of time, looking thru which ones you copied and which are new, and maybe less dupes. Another thing looks interesting is how you can sort/separate with the Album feature. A little confusing, but I managed to create a few albums. But a few days later, some of the albums disappeared. Now before I really learn and try to master this program, is it worth it/ Seems buggy...
I looking for just a picture/video viewer and uploader...

Well I simply use it as a viewer and nothing more. But yeah it's a good tool to quickly view your uploaded photos from your phone's camera.

As a photographer, shooting with a DSLR, I've a number of other tools available to me such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Adobe Bridge as my photo organizer. From that point I don't find the Photos app suitable there, and certainly wouldn't use it as a photo editor. That's me.

Anyway, I can't say why your albums suddenly disappeared unless you've turned off automatic album creation in the app's settings. Doesn't make sense to me that stuff would just up and disappear without cause.
