How to make Photos app as responsive as Windows Photo Viewer?

    1. How to make Photos app as responsive as Windows Photo Viewer? Noticed that it lags when going from photo to photo and when deleting photos. WPV has no such issue.

    2. I have WPV enabled by default, but these days it's giving me strange errors. I have 32GB DDR4 Ram, of which only 9Gb is in use. No idea why this will appear? How do I resolve this issue?

This could just be a difference in how the two apps work.

I use professional applications for image management, Adobe Lightroom for the first stage. When in the cataloguing mode it is, as you find with Windows Photo Viewer, instant going from one image to the next (mine are mostly raw images of 20-50 MB upwards, although I have had some in excess of 1GB, which took a long time to display in develop but was instant in the catalogue ), This is because the software reads the embedded thumbnail included within the image file

However when I switch to the develop module the same images take much longer to view, this is due to the software reading the full image information and creating an accurate screen image before display.

It may be possible to adjust the setting of the Photos app to read the embedded image thumbnail, that it appears the older app does, this should speed up the display speed or if not, there are many alternative third party options, I always suggest Irfanview which is totally free and includes much more abilities and readable image types
