    Windows Installer Security Warning

I have been trying to install a very useful freeware program, Cinnamon Software's Talking Alarm Clock, onto my new HP W10 PC. This program has been on my W7 PC, a ZT desktop, for around 10 years. I re-downloaded this program from Cnet, since Cinnamon's server seems to be offline now for at least several weeks. In the installation process, about 30 sec in, I get a Windows installer - Security Warning, with the explanation that "This file was blocked because it does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher."

I searched about how I can force W10 to ignore the lack of a valid dig. signature, but the process involved is not something I am comfortable with, since there's mention of some registry manipulation, and I know enough NOT to fool with that. Just to see what happens, I also tried to re-install it on my W7 PC just to see what happens, (I wasn't going to go through with it), and the security warning was also given. I'm thinking that perhaps the fact that the publisher's server/website is down could be the reason. In any case, I really would like to have the use of this pgm, and I'd like to know if a working program such as this could somehow be migrated from one PC to another, which would then not require the installation process.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated!

That will not help. I have disabled the check for certificates, but it still fails.
It is an online installer and that company/server, no longer exist, it is from 2015.
They have an offline installer, but all downloads link to the original server as well.

Their servers and the downloads are preserved in the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. I downloaded and installed the x64 offline .msi install package for the Alarm Clock from the archived page here:

If you have problems with the setup program, or you want to install Talking Alarm Clock on a computer without an Internet connection, please choose one of the following download and installation options:

Thanks for replying. I downloaded Talking Alarm Clock from the Wayback Machine site, but I am still getting the same Windows installer - Security Warning, (Unknown Publisher & no valid digital signature). Also, you wrote to "please choose one of the following download and installation options:", I see only one download option link, the one above the graphic of the Talking Alarm Clock. Should there be another link?

As far as installing on a computer without an Internet connection, I disabled my Internet, and that also produced the same warning, except it was immediate instead of 20-30 sec into the installation.

    Can you still help me?
    Thanks

What happens if you right click on exe, then properties then add check mark to unblock

    Then double click.

    Thanks Caledon Ken,
The Unblock option does not show:

I think I'm out of luck - I believe that the only way this pgm can be installed by anyone would be if Cinnamon Software Co. would become active again so their server could be queried when an install was called for. I sure wish there could be a way to migrate a working program from one PC to another without having to do a re-install.

You've downloaded the wrong file. You want the .msi (windows installer) file.

    Click:

Then download the installer for your system (32bit or 64bit)

As Callender said, you downloaded the wrong file. You got the online installer that requires further downloads Cinamon's server. The one I downloaded and installed successfully was item 3 in Callender's screenshot, just below where it says: "If you... want to install Talking Alarm Clock on a computer without an Internet connection, please choose one of the following download and installation options:..."

Thanks for guidance, I've been trying to install this pgm on my new W10 since I bought it a few wks ago. My orig try to download from Cinnamon SW was impossible because their server is down, & I think they don't exist anymore. I did find AlarmClock20.msi in my W7 PC, so I thought, GREAT, I'll try that. Seemed to go well (except that the "Microsoft Agent v. 2.0 or higher is not installed" & "Microsoft Agent characters are not installed"). I seem to recall that I got the same msgs about the MS Agent when I successfully installed it in W7. After that, I click on "Finish", and all seems that it will work. So I tried launching the pgm, but I get "The system cannot find the file specified". I don't know enough to know what that means, except that maybe this will not install properly because it's W10? Could the file it can't find be something that should be in the registry? Maybe I should just give up, but it's such a handy pgm.

Run an uninstaller and see if it finds existing installation and remove it.

Geek Uninstaller - the best FREE uninstaller

    Reboot when done.

Download the .msi file from the link and install.
