Adobe Reader has started acting up

I do a lot of printing of pdf files, normally I right click on the file then click on print. Lately, last few weeks (and it's becoming more frequent), when I click on print nothing happens. Then I'll click on the file itself to open it in Reader DC and that doesn't happen either. The only way to get it back is to restart my computer.Windows 10 V1903 Build 719

I gave up on the bloatware that Adobe Reader has become and now just use Chrome or Edge to view and print pdf files.

What's the advantage over just using Edge or Chrome?

It's a dedicated pdf reader/printer. Handling pdf's is it's primary function, unlike a secondary function like in a browser.

    Personal choice, horses for courses.

There is also Sumatra PDF reader and you can print with it. It is one of the lightest and smallest pdf readers out there! Free too. Download Sumatra PDF - a free reader

I noticed the OP hasn't returned. Perhaps because their issue for their specific app wasn't addressed. The OP didn't ask for a "substitute", they asked about solving an issue with Adobe Reader.

BTW I've been using both Adobe Reader and Acrobat for the last 20 years without issue. Currently running Acrobat 2017.

I reinstalled Reader after I posted, so far haven't had the problem again, but it's only been 3 days. Will report if it happens again and will mark this solved in another week or so if doesn't happen again.

The problem may not have been addressed simply because there was no answer, or an answer was not immediately known. Using an alternative option is often an opportunity for a user to get on with the job while continuing looking for a solution to their current problem. There was no suggestion that another browser was the actual answer to the user's problems.

On the other hand, there are users that may not be aware of alternatives, and may be quite happy to dump problematic/troublesome software for an alternative (been there, done that, got the T-shirt!).

    Simply a personal choice.

On the other hand users are keenly aware of alternatives but prefer to use what they have. But hey, why solve the issue at hand when it's easier to push a product I say is better

And agree 1,000,000 percent.... it is personal choice. So when I'm seeking help for the "personal choice" I made, I don't need to be told to use something. I want to use what I want to use. Personal choice.

And the "there is no fix" line can be applied to anything.

    Peace
