    Hi there
VMWare Workstation - to run "Sensible" working and secure OS's on !!!!
Photoshop is pretty good and within the Office suite I like EXCEL particularly.

Any backup software is also important --like many on this Forum I use Macrium --have tried a few different ones in the past including "Norton Ghost", and Acronis -- Macrium IMO is pretty good and does exactly what it says on the tin without pestering people "This feature is only available on paid editions" or nags to "Go PRO" i.e pay !!

    Cheers

There is no best program/app, but I'll list some of the apps I use and find them useful:
    • Lightshot - free screenshot tool, which I find best among anthing I used before including new Windows 10 screenshot tool.
    • Skype - this doesn't need introduction. I use it everyday for my work and for communicating with my spouse when at the office.
    • Steam - most popular gaming platform on PC.
    • Chrome browser with profiles (might consider switching to new Edge when Microsoft implements sync option, not because I'm not happy with Chrome, I am, I just wanna give a chance to Microsoft Edge).
    • Bitwarden - open source and in my opinion best free password manager.
    • Adblocker Ultimate - free adblocker. Been using this adblocker for years.
    • 360 Total Security Essential - best free antivirus in my opinion.
    • Plex - free home media server that allows me to play my movies and TV shows from my PC in my TV.
    • Open Hardware Monitor - Very similar to HWmonitor but free version.
    • OneNote for Windows 10 - hands down, best free notepad. It even features password protecting of your notepad sections.
    • MusicBee - most customizable music player I have ever seen. It's a best player if you're meloman and like organizing your music files in your PC & it's free.
    • Daum Pot Player - most customizable video player I have ever seen. It's free and without ads. It's dev is former creator of KM player.
    • Google office - free cloud office from Google. Has everything that I need. Microsoft cloud office seems also nice, but didn't have to use it yet. Will stick to Google office.
    • Google drive - this doesn't need introduction.
    • Onedrive - I know it's silly to have this too while I'm already using GoogleDrive, but why not both? :)
    • Soulseek - peer to peer sharing software, mostly for music. Been using it for years. It's best if you're looking for rare materials that can't find on the Internet.
    • Qbittorrent - free, without ads torrent client.
    • Netflix microsoft app version. I usually use Netflix in my TV, but it doesn't hurt to have this app in my PC too.
    • Microsoft pre-built apps like calculator, mail client, calendar, news...
    • PeaZip - free, open source archiver that looks a bit better than 7Zip.
    • CPUz and GPUz - free utilities to check your CPU and GPU temperatures and some other related things.
    • I also use app that gives you code for any color when you hover with your cursor, just don't remember it's name.
    • Lingoes - best free dictionary I could find on the Internet.
Good choices, about POT PLAYER, it is absolutely the most customizable I have ever seen which makes me wonder why so many tech sites push VLC player, it is not even close to as good. Could VLC be paying these people secretly to hype that thing or are they just crappy reporters?
