One of my favourites is just a modest little utility Microsoft published in 1996....

    Microsoft GIF Animator - Wikipedia

...first used it in W'95, still works in x64 W10

I bet nobody has heard of ArcSoft’s PhotoStudio 2000. I got if free with a Canon scanner at the turn of the millennium and I’m still using it 20 years later.

    And Dynamic Theme.

I start my clean installs with PatchMyPC lately. Then select my 15 to 20 programs like Treesize free, 7-zip etc. Always direct from developer, and versions without any third party PUPs

Yandex browser - I found this little gem by a chance, its market share outside Russia is nonexistent.

For me, the best ever program (which has got me out of many a foolish move) has got to be Macrium. The times I have done something very silly and major happens from time to time. Good old Macrium has been an absolute life saver.
    What do other recommend?
    C

    Fully agree about Macrium.

Ja, ja, I know this is tenforums.com -- however, I could not resist...
Believe it or not, I recently took a chance on Auslogics Driver Updater, and it actually worked for my two laptops. I was in the midst of numerous WUs, some of which "told" me I had to update some driver here, there, etc. After it made the backups, it updated what it found -- and so far, I detect no trouble with Windows7. Normally, I do not use driver updaters. Now onto more installs: Macrium Reflect, Image for Windows; Cyberlink products; TeraCopy...and so on.

Microsoft SyncToy x64. Pushing 11 years old, but a simple, fast, reliable folder/file backup/sync app that does one thing and does it well.
